Choosing custom logo mats starts with your entrance, not just your logo. The right mat needs to fit the available space, suit the way people use it and make your business name easy to recognise. A small office doorway and a wide hotel reception need different layouts, even when both use the same carpet material.
At Avidaze, we make custom inlaid logo mats using coloured carpet pieces fitted together on rubber backing. Here is what to consider before requesting a quotation for your business in South Africa.
1. Choose an entrance mat for the actual location
Tell your supplier whether the mat will sit inside a reception, under a covered entrance or in an area exposed to weather. Mention heavy foot traffic, trolley movement and any moisture or oil exposure. A branded carpet mat is not automatically suitable for every environment, and a specialist mat may be needed for wet or oily areas.
Also check the floor beneath it. The mat should lie flat on a clean, dry surface, and the doorway must have enough clearance to open freely over the finished mat.
2. Measure your custom logo mat before ordering
Measure the usable width and depth, then mark the proposed outline on the floor with removable tape. Walk through the entrance and check that the size feels practical. Leave room for door movement and avoid covering an uneven threshold.
As layout examples, a 1.2 m × 0.8 m mat can suit a compact entrance, while 1.5 m × 1 m provides more room for a logo. These are starting points, not a substitute for measuring your doorway. A long runner may work better where the walking route is narrow.
3. Keep branded mat artwork clear and readable
An entrance mat is usually seen while someone is walking. A recognisable logo and short wording are more effective than a crowded design containing every contact detail. Allow space around the artwork so the border does not compete with it.
For inlaid carpet mats, solid colours and clear shapes work best. Very small lettering, fine outlines, gradients and three-dimensional effects may need simplifying. Ask for a mock-up at the proposed proportions before approving production; increasing the mat size can sometimes preserve details that would be too small on a compact mat.
4. Compare carpet colours and rubber edging
Contrast helps the logo stand out. Light lettering on a dark background, or dark lettering on a lighter background, is often easier to read than two similar shades. The closest available carpet colour may differ from the colour shown on your screen, so request material colour guidance where an exact brand match matters.
Ask whether rubber edging is included in your quotation and confirm the finished dimensions. Edging protects the exposed carpet perimeter, while the backing supports the assembled mat. A backed mat still needs to be placed and maintained correctly.
5. Compare complete custom mat quotations
Compare the same size, material, branding method, backing and edging. Ask whether artwork preparation and delivery are included. A lower price is not a useful comparison if one quotation is for a different construction or excludes the delivery you need.
