Custom Branded Mats in South Africa

Custom inlaid logo mat manufactured by Avidaze in South Africa

Your entrance is one of the first things customers see, and it is where dirt, rain, and grit enter your building. A well-made logo mat handles both jobs: it protects your premises and puts your brand at the door.

This guide explains how logo mats in South Africa work.

It also explains why entrance coverage matters and what to check before ordering.

What is a logo mat?

A logo mat is a commercial entrance mat featuring your company name, logo or brand colors. On printed mats, the design appears on their surface. In contrast, an inlaid logo mat is made by cutting colored carpet pieces and fitting them into the mat body. The design is part of the material, not a print on top.

Avidaze specializes in solid-color inlaid logo mats for offices, retail stores, schools, hotels and other commercial spaces. Inlay is well suited to busy entrances, although fine details, gradients and very small lettering may need to be simplified for a clean result.

1. Catch dirt at the entrance

Dirt carried on shoes can spread far beyond the doorway. Cleaning industry publication CleanLink reports an industry estimate that 80% of soil and dust in a facility comes in through its doors. Catching grit early helps keep the rest of the floor cleaner.

Coverage matters more than simply having a mat. The same guide recommends that visitors take four to five steps on matting and describes 12 to 15 feet (about 3.7 to 4.6 m) across an entrance system for substantial dirt capture. That is guidance for a complete walk-off area, not a promise that one small logo mat will achieve the same result. Place the mat across the actual walking path and consider additional scraper or drying matting where traffic and weather demand it.

2. Reduce floor-care work

When more soil stays at the entrance, cleaning teams can remove it from a concentrated area before it spreads across the building. A matting industry guide cites a Swiss study estimating floor-care savings of up to 67% with effective soil capture. Treat that as a cited estimate for a well-designed and maintained entrance system, not a guaranteed saving for any individual mat.

Regular vacuuming and cleaning are essential: a mat full of trapped dirt cannot keep doing its job. Keeping grit off the floor can also help protect the finish of tiles, timber and other surfaces.

3. Help manage wet-floor risks

Rainwater on indoor floors can make them slippery. Suitable moisture-handling matting can help, alongside prompt cleaning. Also check the floor surface and make sure mats lie flat. Choose matting suited to the moisture at your entrance, and clean up water that reaches the surrounding floor. South Africa’s Occupational Health and Safety Act sets general duties for employers to manage workplace health and safety risks. Buying a mat alone is not proof of compliance.

A real-world entrance example

The UK Health and Safety Executive describes a supermarket that identified wet shoes at its customer entrance as a slip risk. Its existing matting removed grit but did too little to dry footwear. The store added supplementary matting during wet weather, checked that mats stayed flat, replaced saturated mats and promptly dried water tracked past the entrance.

The useful lesson for a South African shop, school or hotel is to plan the full wet-weather routine. Choose adequate coverage, keep the surface dry enough to work and respond when water gets beyond the mat. The HSE example is a UK case, not a measured outcome from an Avidaze installation.

4. Put your brand at the door

Logo mats in South Africa make your brand visible as visitors pass.

A clear, well-proportioned design enhances the entrance’s impression.

How to choose the right logo mat

Match the material to the traffic

A busy shopfront needs a durable commercial mat and a layout suited to its foot traffic. For the most demanding wet or gritty entrance, consider how your logo mat fits with other scraper or drying mats.

Measure the walking path

Cover the usable doorway width and the route people actually take. If you have room for several steps of matting, plan the whole entrance area rather than choosing dimensions from appearance alone.

Keep the artwork practical

High-resolution or vector artwork helps us prepare an accurate mock-up. Solid colors and clear lettering translate best to precision inlay. If your logo has gradients or tiny details, we can suggest a production-friendly version for approval.

Plan for cleaning and placement

Vacuum and clean the mat regularly, check that it lies flat and address moisture that reaches the surrounding floor. For more sizing help, explore our office entrance mat guidance or retail and commercial mat options.
